we’re good

we never lost power today for more than 30 seconds at a time. that was good.

on the other hand, sleepy head (sitting next to me on the couch) has been infected with the cat virus. the virus that makes you sleepy 23 out of 24 hours in the day.

we were about 80 miles north of the eye of Wilma, so we just got a lot of wind and a lot of rain. i wrote down my liveblog of the storm, as we wanted to leave the computers off until we were sure we didn’t have power surges to worry about. maybe i’ll post it later, maybe not. expect nothing, as this is mountaineer musings.

we have 2 trees down, including my favorite tree, the pretty one, the colorful one. we’ll put them back up.

the weather here is fabulous, in the 60s for the first time since probably January. today it feels like fall. all i want to do is roll around in the grass and let the wind blow in my face. but the grass is soaked, as it did rain a bit in the past forever.

guess i’ll finish addressing wedding invitations. next time i marry Frank, i’m letting someone else make the invitations, that took way longer than i wanted it to.

Boudicca is without power, without trees, and with extensive roof damage. y’all pray for her family.

that’s all. i’m tired. i’m stir crazy. i hate Florida.

SO glad that you two are okay. :) Having power is a really good thing.

Enjoy the cool weather, in my experience it is shortlived in Florida….

    Teresa Says:

Glad to hear that the worst of it missed you! As for Florida itself - no one could pay me enough to live there! *grin*

  4. 4
    Patriot Xeno Says:

so…you didn’t get to shoot any looters?

    Mountain Mama Says:

After we spent a week at Disney World I wanted to move to Florida. That is, after we got home and I couldn’t get warm for a week afterwards. And it was in the 70s here! Although I like the blue skies in Colorado so much I am rethinking that plan. Also, don’t lay in the grass, doesn’t Florida grass have biting ants or some sort of invisible mosquitoes or something? But glad you are all okay. And with power!

    rachel Says:

we lost a lot of branches off our big tree. And our banana tree that has bananas growing fell over. We have it propped back up and are hoping it re-roots itself.

I’m wearing my favorite sweater today! I love cold (for florida) weather!!!
    cheers,
    rachel

TEXAS GREETINGS….Glad you are OK. I love Florida because it has you! But I really wish you were back in Texas where you belong!!! The worst sunburn I EVER had was in Florida. Of course, that was before they had sunscreen with LOTS of protection!
Oh, by the way–THIS IS THE ONE AND ONLY TIME YOU WILL MARRY FRANK–so, ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! Blessings to you both—Does Frank REALLY know what he is getting into???

    Walter Says:

Glad to hear you and Frank came through OK. Hurricanes are no joke and no fun. Been through a few near-misses myself. Close enough for me.

    BloodSpite Says:

After having lived in Jacksonville (got relatives there) and in Vigrinia Beach, VA I have not a care for Hurricanes.

And I’ll never move back to Florida. Too darn flat, and it always looks, well barren for some reason.

we are going through a noreaster today, but the snow should only hit the high spots in the middle of the state, woo hoo only high winds and rain.

Glad to hear that you, Frank and the cats are okay, SarahK.

Glad you both made it thru the hurricane ok. say, could you send some of that cat virus here, I have 7 cats that are awake and up to no good for way more than an hour a day. Like I never see them asleep.

No cussing, no taking the Lord's name in vain. No exceptions.
