new digital camera!

the shutter speed is so much faster! i knew i didn’t take blurry pictures, Jim!

we decided to budget some of the wedding money people gave us to get a new digital before we leave for the cruise. we got this one, and had a coupon and all that, so it was under $350. i can’t believe how many bells and whistles this thing came with for the price. maybe it’s because i bought my HP 3 megapixels thing with slow shutter speed and 3x optical zoom for almost $200 about a year and a half ago.

anyway, i picked up a 1GB memory card for the price of the 512 (after rebate) and have been playing this afternoon.

i’m still working with it, but here are a few pics i took of the kitties.

the mess is already cleaned up

did my husband attack your photographic abilities in some way that i was unaware of?

    sarahk Says:

you were there, you told him to quit being nice and just tell me what i was doing wrong. and then Frank got in big trouble because i was trying to prove that i can take pictures and he kept shaking me and such, which just made me want to punch him and go home.

    Hi, SarahK:

You two lovely daughters, Minerva and Sydney were afraid that their parents has left and would not return. Now that you have returned, your daughters want to make sure that you don’t do that again.

Wow! good one of Sydney, considering the light from the windows behind her.
Minerva is pretty too, don’t want to leave her out : )

Well, as I understand it, it’s the photographer, not the camera.

Sherloc. kThat’s true, that’s why everyone is still using Brownies with 110 film. Better cameras do not improve the photographs.

Okay, now I remember. Blurry night time no flash pics are inevitable.
Don’t feel bad, I’m doomed to always take bad pics because he was a photographer in a former life.

I dunno… both the cats look kinda fuzzy in those pictures.

Good choice. My husband uses the E-300 and you’ll really like those large images. Happy shooting!

sorry spacemonkey, I’m the ‘jim’ sarahk talks about, and I was just teasing her some more.
BTW 110 film came after 35mm film and is crap, and I do own a browne. I still use a film camera (Nikon F100) and shoot in b/w and love it. Oh and the statement about the photographer being the the sole factor in the photograph still stands, you can have the best brushes and canvas, but you still need to know how to paint. the better cameras are great and most people can use them just fine, but a $10,000 camera isn’t going to make you Ansel Adams, who shot with primitive equipment compared to todays equipment.
Glad you like your new toy sarahk, enjoy it on the cruise.
